Steve has been investing in African start-ups since 2009 when he began making seed-stage investments in Africa. The investments that he and his partners made formed the proof-of-concept portfolio for Novastar’s first VC fund launched in 2014. Novastar now manages $263m across 3 venture funds, partnering with the bold entrepreneurs forging solutions to the continent's biggest problems. After an 18-year career in strategy consulting, he helped set up and lead Geneva Global - a ‘philanthropic investment bank’ originating and managing grants to more than a thousand projects in the global south. Steve graduated from Stanford University and earned a Ph.D. from the London School of Economics.
