Barbara Birungi Mutabazi grew up in underserved communities in Kampala, Uganda, where she saw women face domestic violence, early marriage, and limited access to education. Motivated to change this reality, she founded Women in Technology Uganda (WITU) to equip young women with digital skills, jobs, and entrepreneurship support. Recognizing the need for fair access to capital, she later founded Nsimbi Impact, a fintech initiative offering AI enabled, voice-powered, multilingual lending for women-owned Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). An MIT graduate, she also founded Uganda's first tech Innovation hub.
