BEING A REDEMPTIVE LAB HOST CAN BE A DEEPLY FORMATIONAL & REWARDING EXPERIENCE; IT’S ALSO A BIG COMMITMENT. IF YOU’RE THINKING ABOUT APPLYING TO HOST, PLEASE REVIEW THE FOLLOWING GUIDELINES FIRST.

• CONTENT DELIVERY

  WHILE CONTEXT-SPECIFIC CUSTOMIZATION OF THE CONTENT IS HELPFUL AND ENCOURAGED, IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT LAB HOSTS DELIVER ALL CORE CONTENT AS IT IS STRUCTURED IN THE EVENT AGENDA.

  • The ‘Introduction to Praxis’ video must be shared on night one as participants first arrive, framing the context of Praxis and the Redemptive Lab experience.
  • The ‘Introduction to the Redemptive Frame’ is a short pre-recorded video from Praxis HQ that shares the key ideas of the framework as it was designed to be explained. Unless the host is deeply familiar with the concepts and has been approved by Praxis to give this talk, all hosts must play the full video for participants to begin day two of the gathering (this includes mentors).
  • Vision presentations should be 3-5 minutes per entrepreneur, include a slide deck and sharing a brief overview of the organization they are building. They may not include direct solicitations for capital or funding.
  • Mentor Panels revolve around the Praxis Redemptive Framework and the 3 axis’: Strategy, Operations and Leadership. Each Mentor Panel delves into 1 of the topics with introductory comments from a moderator to frame the conversation, and then asking pre-designed questions of the mentors. There is time allocated for personal and group reflection. Sessions must follow this format and not diverge from key topic areas found in the Redemptive Playbooks.
  • Hosts are responsible for sending and collecting post-event feedback surveys from all entrepreneurs and mentors within two weeks of the event. These surveys are essential for understanding entrepreneur satisfaction with the Lab and you as a host; NPS (Net Promoter Score) and other feedback is used to inform Lab license renewals.

• FAITH COMMITMENT

  OUR MODEL IS BUILT DEEPLY AROUND ROOMS WHERE ALL PARTICIPANTS—FROM HOSTS TO ENTREPRENEURS TO MENTORS—AFFIRM THE APOSTLES’ CREED.

  • Redemptive Labs are intended and designed for a Christian audience in order to be a generative conversation. Praxis as an organization engages the Christian community across denominational affiliation.
  • All participants in Praxis and Redemptive Labs events are expected to affirm the Apostles’ Creed prior to engaging in our programs and community.

• DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION

  LABS HOSTS SHOULD BE COMMITTED TO DIVERSITY ACROSS GENDER AND ETHNICITY IN THE COMPOSITION OF THE MENTORS AND ENTREPRENEURS SELECTED, VALUING THE BROAD PERSPECTIVES AND POSSIBILITIES OF ROOMS THAT LOOK LIKE THE KINGDOM OF GOD.

  • Your event must maintain the spirit of Praxis events: cross-sector, industry-inclusive gatherings focused on advancing the practices of redemptive entrepreneurship in venture building. Redemptive Labs are not agenda-driven and do not focus on single topics for the entirety of the gathering.
  • Redemptive Labs should intentionally diversify topics across strategy, operations, and leadership in entrepreneurship — each area must be included in the event but we encourage diversity within each discussion on what Playbook commitments you center the conversation on.
  • Conversations should celebrate diversity of thought and perspective, but never rely on polarizing ‘us vs. them’ language. We encourage out-of-the-box thinking, but not when it minimizes the ideas or experiences of others that may be in the room.

• ATTENDANCE AND DURATION

  REDEMPTIVE LABS ARE DESIGNED TO BE HOSTED AS 36-HOUR, 2-NIGHT EVENTS FOR 6-12 ENTREPRENEURS. PRAXIS BELIEVES THIS FORMAT IS THE MINIMUM VIABLE EXPERIENCE TO ALLOW FOR PARTICIPANT FORMATION AT DEPTH, AND DELIVERY OF THE FULL EVENT IS A REQUIREMENT TO COMPLETE THE LAB EXPERIENCE.

  • A minimum of 6 and maximum of 12 entrepreneurs can attend a Redemptive Lab, with attention to venue capacity (especially overnight lodging).
  • Mentor headcount must match entrepreneurs as a 1:1 ratio (hosts can include themselves as a mentor if they would like to participate in one-on-ones on day two).
  • Entrepreneurs must be able to commit to and attend the entire duration of the Labs event (including overnight stays), unless extenuating circumstances will not permit. Mentors must attend the full mentoring commitment on day two of the Lab.

• NAMING

  IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT YOU AND YOUR ATTENDEES USE CONSISTENT AND CLEAR NAMING IN REFERENCE TO YOUR LAB. LEADERS APPLY TO HOST A LAB WITH A NAME FOR THEIR UNIQUE EVENT; IF THE NAME IS AVAILABLE, THE LAB HOST HAS ACCESS TO THAT NAME AND BRANDED ASSETS FOR THE DURATION OF THE LICENSE.

  • Redemptive Labs can be named after their unique location, such as a city, neighborhood, or street. The naming convention is {{Location}} Redemptive {{Business/Nonprofit}} Lab, designed by Praxis.
  • Names are granted at the discretion of the Praxis team.
  • You must always refer to your Redemptive Lab with the full name your license was approved for in all copy, messaging, logos, etc. For example, if your licensed name is "London Redemptive Business Lab," you may not refer to your event as "Praxis London" or any other variation.
  • Licensed hosts will receive a set of custom digital assets for your Redemptive Lab, including a logo. It should be used to represent your Lab at all times.

• BRAND POSITIONING

  A REDEMPTIVE LAB IS AN INDEPENDENTLY ORGANIZED PRAXIS-LIKE EVENT — NOT A PRAXIS HEADQUARTERS EVENT. IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT YOU AS A HOST CONSISTENTLY AND CLEARLY MESSAGE YOUR LAB IN RELATION TO BUT DISTINCT FROM PRAXIS HEADQUARTERS, AS WELL AS ANY OTHER ORGANIZATIONS.

  • You should never communicate “Praxis is coming to (my city)...”
  • Always refer to yourself as a Redemptive Lab host, and not an employee of Praxis.
  • You should never use the Praxis logo in any communications or branding independent of the unique Redemptive Lab name you have been licensed use of.
  • Please ensure that your entrepreneurs and mentors follow these guidelines in their messaging and promotion of their involvement in your Redemptive Lab.
  • Redemptive Labs are standalone events and cannot be hosted in combination with other organizations, schools, brands, or content. This includes no co-branding the event with another organization or group.  While we are open to approving licenses for organizations, schools, or similar, that organization must be willing to run the event as a standalone entity where their organization is not on the co-branding. With Praxis’ approval, organizations may indicate on their website that they were the “Host of a Redemptive {{Business/Nonprofit}} Lab in {{Year}}.”
  • You as the license holder of a Redemptive Lab are the host of the event and may not promote the event as being hosted by another organization for promotional purposes (e.g. City Church is hosting a Redemptive Business Lab).

• FUNDRAISING

  A REDEMPTIVE LAB IS A NOT-FOR-PROFIT GATHERING AND IS RUN BY A VOLUNTEER HOST TEAM. AT NO POINT IN TIME CAN A LAB BE USED TO FUNDRAISE, EITHER FOR YOUR ORGANIZATION OR ANY CHARITY.

  • Redemptive Labs cannot organize separate fundraising events to raise money for the Lab gathering.
  • Hosts are permitted to solicit and accept donations from individual funders in their community who would like to contribute to the operating costs of the Lab. However, this funding may not include compensation for the host’s time in organizing the event, nor honorariums for mentors.
  • You can charge an entrepreneur for participating in your Redemptive Lab. Registration fees may be no more than $500.00 USD and must go towards event and operating costs, such as food, lodging, and materials. Registration fees cannot exceed operating costs.
    

• PRODUCTS AND MATERIALS

  REDEMPTIVE LABS ARE NOT MEANT TO BE A PROMOTIONAL OPPORTUNITY FOR ANY PRODUCTS OR SERVICES IN YOUR COMMUNITY. YOU AS A HOST ARE PROVIDED WITH REDEMPTIVE LAB MATERIALS THAT ARE RELEVANT TO YOUR EVENT, BUT YOU ARE NOT REQUIRED TO PURCHASE ANY OF THESE SUPPLIES.

  • You may give away Praxis Redemptive Playbooks to participants (one Rule of Life and one sector-specific Playbook) and any printed materials like event books that have the Redemptive Lab logo.
  • You are not permitted to charge for any participant assets beyond production costs and all assets should be part of the registration fee for the entrepreneurs (not mentors).
    

• WEBSITE, MEDIA, AND COMMUNICATIONS

  YOUR REDEMPTIVE LAB IS PERMITTED TO COLLECT AND DISTRIBUTE MEDIA FROM YOUR GATHERING ON YOUR OWN PLATFORMS OR THROUGH YOUR CUSTOM-BRANDED REDEMPTIVE LAB WEBSITE.

  • Photos of your Redemptive Lab should be shared with Praxis with rights to distribute across our social media platforms and in our marketing materials.
  • Do not purchase a domain name with your Redemptive Lab name until your license has been approved. The URL of your website's homepage should be the name of your Redemptive Lab, e.g. www.londonredemptivenonprofitlab.com. If a .com or .org extension is not available you may choose an alternate.
  • Your website's content and architecture must match that of the provided microsite template from Praxis and include your licensed Redemptive Labs instance logo on all webpages.
  • If you choose to include information about your mentors, a description of your venue, and the date and location of your Lab, you should password-protect your website and only share event details with your participants.
  • Your site must have an ‘About’ page that includes the ‘About Praxis’ and ‘About Redemptive Labs” language provided from Praxis to distinguish between the two.
    

• LICENSING BASICS

  ‍PRAXIS EXPECTS THE LICENSE HOLDER TO BE THE PRIMARY HOST OR OPERATOR OF A REDEMPTIVE LAB. IF THIS IS FOUND TO NOT BE THE CASE OR IF LICENSE HOLDERS DO NOT HOST A LAB DURING THE TERM OF THEIR LICENSE, PRAXIS RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REVOKE OR NOT RENEW A LICENSE.

  • Praxis allocates one location-based license per applicant, which can be used to host multiple Redemptive Labs across a 12-month license period.
  • You must live in the metro area for the city for which you are applying for a license.
  • Your Redemptive Lab must happen within a 4-hour radius of the city for which you received the license.
  • Redemptive Lab licenses are non-transferable—you cannot transfer your Redemptive Lab license to another leader. If you want to relinquish your license and Redemptive Lab’s name to allow another host to have it, you'll need Praxis approval after reviewing the application of the new licensee.
  • If you decide not to renew your Redemptive Labs license or Praxis does not choose to approve a renewal of your license, you will be required to release any domain or logo usage in affiliation with Redemptive Labs.
  • Baseline NPS (Net Promoter Score) for event experience is 60, as collected from entrepreneur post-Lab feedback surveys. If a host is unable to produce their event at or above a 60 NPS, Praxis reserves the right to revoke the Labs license.
